This small city is located in the north of Jordan, in the Jordan Valley.  Its name means "Cave of the Prince". Its ancient caves are the main reason to visit this city.

It offers a great view over the region.

Inside the caves was discovered ancient objects and lots of gold coins.  That's why is called the caves of the prince. It is believed that a prince lived there or was keeping his possessions there.

It has an interesting particularity of raining inside the caves, even if it's a sunny day outside.

Because of the constant water dropping there's lots of green vegetation.

As we were in the surroundings, we went to take a look to the ruins of the ancient Castle of the Slave - Qasr al Abd.

The legend says that a slave built this small castle to conquer the love of the master's daughter, while his master was away, but the master returned before he could finish it.

Best time to go
The best time of the year to go is Spring and Autumn. It's sunny but not so much cold or hot.
However, sunscreen, a hat and a bottle of water are always advised.

The caves and the castle are not some of the most looked touristic attractions, so it is not crowded. Maybe because is isolated and there's no public transport. A rented car or a taxi can be a solution.
