This ancient castle is located in the north of Jordan and it was built for military purposes.
Considering that this castle faced the Crusaders, Mongols and Earthquakes it is in very good condition, even though it was restored.

Best time to go
The best time of the year to go is Spring and Autumn. It's sunny but not cold or hot. However, sunscreen, a hat and a bottle of water are always advised.
I would avoid the arabic weekends - Fridays and Saturdays - as it's normally very crowed and many groups of Jordanians families seat in the floors and stairs to rest, eat or just chat, making it difficultly to move around and take photos.
