Health Care System in Jordan


The governmental (public) and private health systems are known for the quality of their services but they are quite expensive considering the minimum salary of 220JD, in Jordan. 


Health Insurance
So, the Jordanian people try to have a health insurance to pay less, when they need medical care. 
They can make a health insurance from the government or from a private company.

People that are classified as poor by the Ministry of Social Development will have the civil health insurance. As well organ and blood donors.


Hospitals
The governmental hospitals and private clinics are divided in first class, second class and third class. 
The first is the more expensive and the patients will have their own bedroom with private bathroom, tv. The patients on the second class will have also their private room but not tv. The third-class patient will share bedroom with other 5 patients. But will have his own fridge, next to the bed!
All the classes will provide at least one meal per day for the patients.

The emergency medical service in the public hospital that doesn't requires hospitalization is free.


General Practitioner
A medical appointment in a private general practitioner will cost from 5 JD. They are 24h service.



Charitable Health Services
There are local and international charitable agencies, that provide free medical services as Caritas, Unrwa and others.


Pharmacy
In the Pharmacy, the medication prescribed by the doctor can be covered by the insurance.

Diseases
Despite sexual practices are not "allowed" before marriage, Jordan didn't escape to HIV/AIDS. But cancer and heart diseases are the major cause of death in Jordan.
