22 Things a Typical Jordanian Husband Will Never Accept

There are things that the typical Jordanian husband will never allow his wife to do. 
This is cultural and if these things happen, he will lose the respect of his family and community. 

1. Having male friends or talking with men
2. Wearing bathing suit in front of other men or in public beaches
3. Smiling to other men, even if it's a form of thanking in the supermarket
4. Making eye contact or looking back to other men. It's considered flirting
5. Wearing cleavage, short skirts/shorts or tight clothing in public
6. Talking and laughing loud in the street
7. Going somewhere without telling him
8. To sit in the front seat of a taxi
9. Going outside with wet hair – this implies that she had sex recently. Muslims have to shower after sex, to be able to pray
10. Dancing in a club
11. Smoking in public
12. Kissing and hugging him in public
13. Taking care of official paperwork. He will do that for her
14. Receiving a man in home alone - like a plumber
15. Receiving the change in hand, in a store. The seller might touch her hand on purpose
16. Keep the children in case of divorce and wanting to take them with her when leaving the country
17. Question his religion
18. Contradicting him in front of people
19. Complaining about his family
20. Let her career interfere with her duties of wife
21. If he is from a village or tribe, very probably would want his wife to wear a scarf covering the hair and neck (hijab) and a long loose dress with long sleeves (abaya).
22. He will never see her as an equal.
